Intelligence ha-; just come to hand that another sortie has been made by the British troops at Candahar, directly to the eastward of that city ; but owing to the strong position being taken up by Ayoub Khan's force, which was strongly reinforced, the British troops were obliged to retire.

News has come to hand that a mutiny has broken out among the troops of the Khan of Khelat, in Beloochistan, and orders have beeu given for a wing of one of the* Highland regiments stationed at Quettah to proceed to the assistance of the Khan without delay.
London, August 27. The Standard this morning publishes a telegram, which reports that serious defection has taken place from the troops of the new Ameer, Abdul Rahman, in favor of Yakoob Khan's party at Ghuznee, and of Ayoub Khan at Oandahar.

A report is current at Plymouth to day that the troopship Serapis is to be fitted up to convey the Prince and Princess of Wales to Melbourne, and that a detached squadron with the Bacchante will accompany their Royal Highnesses. Tei-iflc Hurricane in the West Indies. A telegram has. been received today announcing that a terrific hurricane has passed over Jamaica in ttie West Indies, and has caused great damage throughout the island. Thousands were rendered homeless, and are starving. In the port of Kingston forty wrecks hare occurred, owing to the force of the storm.
