Mr Bolleston be reminded of his expressed good wishes to the Thames District, when at the Thames, and that it be called to his memory that be said he hoped on his next visit to ride behind an iron horse to the Thames Valley, and that he be informed that the proposal in the Bailway Construction Bill to divert the vote for tne continuation of the Thames-Waikato line to the formation of a branch line of the Auckland railway via Hamilton and Morrinsville to Cambridge will seriously retard progress of the Thames District, besides being a great injustice to the large population thereof, and that his assistance bo asked to prevent this.— F.O.Dbak."

Mb O. D. Grant, baker and confectioner, of Shortland, has shown us the medal^and certificate awarded him at the Sydney Ex* hibition. It 'must be very gratifying to Mr Grant to find that he took the best prize in New Zealand with his biscuits, and the faot also reflects credit upon this community. We hope to see Mr Grant and many other of our citizens carry off prizes at the Melbourne Exhibition.
