Pabroa, 23rd August, 1880. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Paeroa Public hall was held in the Kail on Saturday evening, Mr C. F. Mitchell in the Chair. Mr Bobson, treasurer, produced the balance sheet for the past year, which, showed that the receipts for the year were £80 2s, and the expenditure for the same period had been £122, leaving a debt on the hall contracted by the committee of £4118s. The balance sheet was adopted, and the . following gentlemen elected the Committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs G. Power, D. Snodgrass, T. E. Shaw, J. Phillips, J. Bitchie, J. Collins, and J. M. Kobson; the latter was also elected treasurer. The natives are anxiously waiting for Mr Gk T. Wilkinson to come up and pay them for their imaginary shares in the goldfield. Many of them hare received a small sum of money on account, but the Government are claiming the whole of their interests for the sums advanced, and this will grievously disappoint the natives, also the storekeepers who have advanced hundreds of pounds worth of goods with j the expectation of being paid out of proceeds of the goldfield. After a few days fine weather pur roads are slightly improving, but we are anxious to see the constabulary com ng up accord- ' ing to promise to construct the road through the Komata.
