BOROUGH ELECTIONS.

(To the Editor of the Brening Star.)

Sib,—"One of those named" writing to your contemporary attempts further to insult citizens over the Borough elections, and especially he mentions two gentlemen resident in tie South Ward. The Adver riser nor the writer have never had authority from at least one of the gentlemen, M r Veale, for dragging his name in the manner they did before the public, for I happen to know that he is prepared to support another gentleman for the representation of the Ward, and my letter of yesterday was only on behalf of such gentleman as Mr Veale and, Mr Hogg who were needlessly insulted by the Advertiser and its ' correspondents. If Mr Veale wishes for municipal honors he can have them for the asking, and regarding Mr Hogg, who is at present absent, I consider your contemporary has treated him very shabily. My letter was only intended to attack the unfair means taken by the Advertiser to hurt the feelings of citizens, and that unfairness is again apparent this morning, when another construction is tried to be placed upon my communication. If you will allow me to state my opinion, all the communications appearing have been written by the editor of the Advertiser, or some of his cronies, and for the purpose, as I said before, of amusement.—l am, &c, South Wabd.
