The debate on the West Coast settlement Bill was resumed by Col. Trimble, who supported it. . Mr P. A. Whitaker explained that Mr Slnehan was still too ill to attend the House or speak. Tomoana condemned the penal clause of the bill.
Sir W. Fox expressed the gratification felt by the Commissioners at the manner in which their report had been received. Hon. Mr Bryoe replied, and the bill was read a second time and committed.
This day. The West Coast Settlement Bill passed through Committee, the penal clause being made .nonretropective and limited, in operation to three years from end of the present Parliament. The bill was then read a third time and passed. The House adjourned at 1.15.
