Last Night's Sitting.

Wellington, Monday. The House met at 7.30. THE HAMILTON-OMAHU BAILWAY BILL. The Local Bills Committee reported the Hamilton and Omahti Railway Bill. Mr Whi taker moved that it be reconsidered on Thursday.

This was negatived on a division by 50 to 22.

Tiae debate on Mr Pyke's amendment condemning the .Railway Report on going into Supply, was resumed by Mr Shepherd, who condemned the Railway Commissioners' report, and supported Mr Pyke's proposal. Capt. Russell supported the report and the Public Works Statement generally, but appealed to the Government to push on the Hawkes Bay lines further than proposed. Mr Thomson complained of the manner the Commissioners and the Minister of Public Works treated the Catlin River line. DEBATE CONTINUED. This day. After long speeches from Hutchinson against the Railway Commission Report, and from Pitt, Whyte, and Jones in its favor, the House divided at one o'clock on Pyke's amendment, which was negatived by 30 to 15. • ESTIMATES. In Committee of Supply on the Public Works Estimates class 2 item, £14,870, passed, as did also the following votes in class 3—Kawakawa, £47,C00; Wbangarei to Jfamo, £49,0C0; Kaipara to Waikato, £130,000; Waikato to Thames, £99,000 ; Wellington to Napier, £37,CC0; Wellington to Woodville, £122,C00; Wellington to Foxton, £36.C30; Foxton to New Plymouth, £117,030; Carlyle to Waitara, £199,003; Nelson to Greymouth, £13,500; Greymouth to Nelson, £70,5 CD; Greymouth to Hokitika, £7,100; Westport to Ngakawau, £7,0C0; Picton to Hurunui, £10,000; Hurunui to Waitaki, £179,000; and the Canterbury interior main line, £16,500.

Later. Last night in Committee of Supply, the vote of £21,000 for the Greymouth harbor works was struck out on a division of 22 to 21. The House rose at 3 50.
