NEW GOLDEN CROWN.

Since Herival's leader was cat on the 10th iast', the manager has been engaged prospecting on it. It at first was nothing bat a small seam of pipe clay, but it has opened oat to about four inches in thirkness, containing gritty quartz. Mr Dunlop intends to carry the prospecting stope 20 or 30 feet on each side of the point of intersection to sre if the lode improves, without which nothing systematic will be done. This is the only work at present in progress, the winding engine being employed about a couple of days a week getting away the output. Firstclass progress is being made with the battery, the tables, stamper boxes, etc., being all ready. Messrs A. and G. Price hare just fiuished the casting of the bed plates of the new water motor, and the cylinders will be completed in a few days. This engine if it comes up to expectations will no doubt be adapted by other crushing plants on the Thames, as it will use just half the water taken by a turbine powerful enough to work a 20 stamper battery. The Albarnia Company at present pay about £12 per week for their water, and the saving of one half that amount would be a very considerable item in their case.
