This handsome present was hung at one end of the room, and was greatly admired. Mr Quint then invited the company to partake of a slight snack—which, on this occasion, consisted of an excellent cold collation served in the Host's usual efficient style. After the viands had been done ample justice to, Mr Fire-Inspector A. Price took the Chair, and Mr W. Wilkinson the Vice-Chair, and a j >lly evening was spent, the list of toasts concluding with that of the " Host and Hostess," which was drunk with every demonstration of enthusiasm. A number of songs were given by Messrs Wright, Basham, Preece and others, the song of the former being particularly amusing. The merry meeting broke up about midnight, all having heartily enjoyed themselves.
