Trickett has been interviewed by many of the leading ■porting men and by Press representatives. His arrival has been duly chronicled in the papers, and has been made a special feature of by the sporting journals. The champion is in want of training and exercise. He will at once go into moderate training. ■, *i_ A The Jockey Club have decided that Ben DOr was not changed as a yearling with Muncaster, and the objection to the colt for the Derby Stakes has therefore been over-ruled. Lord Derby will be chairman of the Commission to enquire into the management of the various City of London Companies. The Indian Press demand that Sir Garnet WoUeley, who has already been nominated to succeed Sir Frederick Haines as commander-in-Chief, should at once be sent out to deal with the crisis which has now arisen. The opinion is expressed that the situation in Afghanistan is most serious, and requires the display of promptitude and firmness.
