The match for the walking championship of Auckland between Hendry and Fernandez for £100 takes place on Saturday. Fernandez is the 'favorite, and £6 to £4 is laid on him freely.
Alexander Smith, a lad aged 19, was charged at the Police Court this morning with a rape on a little girl aged 13, and and committed for trial.
The Eesident Magistrate gave a long judgment to day for a nonsuit of Qillonin his claim against DeLias for an infringment of the dramatic copyright. The claim is under the Copyright Law. The magistrate said the subject was so beset with legal difficulties as to make it apparently impossible to recover. The case he said should have been brought in the Police Court.
The cutter Sovereign of the Seas, reported in distress, has arrived. The crew were four days without provisions.
