[adyibtibbhbnt.] ' ' (To the Editor of the EvnmTO STAB.) S IX,—Your morning contemporary will have his fling at me when he supposes I hare made a false step, and designate! my petition against "the junior coroner" ti " pabulum," which of courts he has a perfect right to do—in fact I should not be surprised at reading in his paper commendation of my dishonorable action if committed by a person under his patronage, but it wonld haTe been more seemly of him if be had refrained from referring to my petition anent the "late Magistrate;" that gentlemen is " rery well placed," now, and might have I>een let alone by his friend. He may well say "Godhelp me from my friends." I deemed I had* right, without asking the proprietor of that paper to take the course I then did, nor did I deem it adrisable to consult; . him about my: course re the " Junior Coroner " as I am quite satined had I done so I should hare been rendered advice of anything but a flattering tendency, if I may judge from the repeated gratuitous attacks made against me with reference ti the native petition re the Miners' Rights business, and although he did me the honor to designate my action as .frivolous and vexatious, and I waa held up by him to the public as a monster in human shape in having attacked a friend; of his without his permission; still-my action— though hounded down by him ras being a disreputable coune, directed against the man for personal and spiteful motives—has been fully justified by subsequent events. Yet the gentleman oannob give me the slightest credit in being the means of exposing- an: abuse of office resulting in heavy losses to, those who paid Jrim. Oh no! Yjoar contemporary from the 'general tenor of his paper on this and other kindred subjects would, rather support an actual breach, of the lair than vindicate one who had been the means of exposing a wrong and seeking redress for injuries extending over a period of yearsaccording to his way of reasoning, the wrong doer should be allowed to continue inflicting injury upon others, his employers, so long as he was your contemporary!! friend; no matter how heinous bis offence to other* might be no other shall dare question his integrity to long as the proprietor of the Advertiser supported his cause, in fact whoever the Advertiser patronises with its support must bo bowed down to and worshipped or accept the proprietor's bitter hatred. As Ido not valae his esteem I may refer him to the adage, " there's no love lost between us "; bat I have diverged from my aubjeot. When commencing thie-letter I intended to pat the gentleman right in bis facts in to-day's iisue, namely: Although he is right in stating I petitioned the House for inquiry into too conduct of the late Magistrate (for whiob, by the bye, I have been highly commended by many whose esteem I value much more than that of the proprietor of the Advertiser) I have not " petitioned the House in support of the present occupant of that office." What I did in conjunction with other gentlemen I will leave the proprietor of the Advertiser to guess again. I hope the proprietor of the Advertiser will not consider this as a "recapitulation of my client's business."-*-! am, H. E. OuantL. Thames, 6th August.
