RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

VAGBANCY.
Thomas Turner was charged with, a breach of the Vagrant Act, being without any visible means of support. # Sergt. Mulville stated that his attention was called yesterday afternoon by some persons to the state in which the accused was, when on enquiries he found the man lived in a miserable hut on the Waiotahi Spur, and was in a most miserable and pitiable condition. He was starring with hunger, and had but a few rags to cover himself with. When taken to the station he eat most ravenously of the food given him. The accused had been convicted of drunkenness some months ago, and was at that time in a state bordering on insanity. Sentenced to three months 1 imprisonment.
