THIS DAY. (Before H. Kenrick, Esq., R.M.) COLLAELEBB POOS.

Henry Keitman, James Gordon, and George Henderson, were charged with a breach of the Dog Nuisance Act, by not having collars for their dogs.

Beitman and Gordon pleaded guilty, and were fined Is and costs each.

George Henderson pleaded not guilty. Constable Haslet t deposed that he saw the dog lying at the door of Henderson's house. Defendant's wife said her husband had given the dog away to another man, but that the man had not registered it

Mr Brassey for plaintiff, and Mr Dodd for defendant.

Mr Aitken said that Mr McCormick had entered into a contract with the County Council to do certain work on the Ohinemuri main road.

Win. McCormick said he entered into a contract with Murphy to do certain work at the Puriri Soda-water Springs. The contract was a written one. (Produced)

. Mr Aitken said he had measured. over 904 yds 12ft. done between Omahu and Puriri. The work was done to his ■ satisfaction. The amount comes to £37 10s at lOd per yard, but he did not know if any money had been paid to Murphy. The contract between the Council and McCormick is still in existence. The weather has been so bad that the contractor has been compelled to desist. About £70 was due to Mr McCormick from the County. £50 has been passed for payment, and the other £20 is kept as a guarantee that he 'finishes the work. Mr McCormick has ceased operations about a month. It would not do to do the work in this weather. „' The plaintiff was non-suited with costs £18s. . . „
