The Australian cricketers commenced their match today against eighteen of the Hunslet club at Hunslet, near Leeds. The Home team went in first, and scored 75 runs. The Australians then went, in and were all disposed of for 65, the bowling of the Hunslet men being dead on the wicket, and doing great execution. The weather was showery during the day, and the ground was consequently very dead. August 6. Gubernatorial ChangesSir Hercules Robinson will, it is stated, succeed Sir Bartle Frere as Governor of Cape Colony. The Right Hon. W. E. Forster, Chief Secretary for Ireland, made a speech in the House of Commons to day in the course of which he said he deplored the rejection of the Irish Tenants Compensation Bill by the House of Lords. He trusted the favorable harvest prospects would alleviate the condition of the farmers, and he appealed to the members to use their influence to preserve order. Disturbances Feared in Ireland. In consequence of the rejection of the Bill, troops have been ordered to Ireland as disturbances are feared.
