The Licensing Embroglio.
This morning Mr Wardell, agent for Mr Ehrenfried on the Thames, served the following notice of intention to serve a writ on Harry Kenrick Esq., 8.M., Chairman of /the Licensing Bench :—
To Harry Kenrick, Eiq., Resident Magistrate, and Chairman of tbe Licensing Court for the Thaa»s District,
Sib—l hereby giye you notice that it is my intention to bring an action against you in the Supreme Court of New Zealand, Auckland District to 'recover the sum of live thousand pounds damages, sustained by me in consequence of the Licensing Court for the Thames District having maliciously, and without reasonable or probable cause, refused on the 12th day of June, 1880, to renew the publicans' licenses applied for in respeot of se feral hotels, belonging to me, and situate at the Thames, namely—the Glasgow Arms hotel, the Waiotahi hotel, the Nil Desperandum hotel, the Old Commodore hotel, the Excelsior hotel, and tbe Una hotel.
Dated this twenty ninth day of July, 1880. Louis Ehbenjeikd. On receipt of the writ, Mr Kenrick sent a copy to the Government, in order to acquaint them of the turn things 4 have taken.
