The cost of Education on the Thames.
From the third annual report of the Minister,of Education we clip the follow* ing as being of interest to Thames people. The cost of the maintenance of the several schools isr as follows :— . •
Tararu School—Salaries, £727 (eight teachers); Eureka, £97 10s; WaioKaraka, £717 18s 4d (thirteen teachers); Waiotahi Creek, £433 6s 8d (four teachers); Punga Flat £110 (two teachers); Kauaeranga Boys' £828 6s" 8d (ten teachers) ; Kauaeranga Girls', £491 13s 4d (nine teachers). The total cost of salaries of teachers, pupil teachers, and assistants engaged on the Thames is £3,182 13s 4d per annum. The amount expended on building sites, furniture and. apparatus, and other necessaries is—For the Tararu School, £62 Os 9d; for the Eureka School, £6 11s 6d; for the Waio-Karakt School £2,746 19s 6d; for the Waiotahi Creek, £145 6s lid; for the Kauaeranga Boys, £236 6s sd; for the Kauaeranga Girls, £1153 14s Id; for Punga Flat, £22 16s 3d; The totals therefore of the whole cost of the schools on the Thames is as follows :—
