Last Night's Sitting.

On the House resuming, the Native Lands Frauds Prevention Bill And the Native Succession Bill were read a second time, and the House then went into Committee on the Native Lands Bill,, which is still under consideration.

This day. In committee on the Native .bands Court Bill.

Te Wneoro moved the insertion of a clause to give a native committee power to determine that land be brought into Court.

Mr Bryce refused to accept this. Sir George Grey supported it, and several members suggested the postponement of the clause but ministers objeo* ted.

A long and irregular discussion followed it being evidently the intention to stone* wall the bill.

At 2.30 the motion to report progress was lost on a division by 25 to 13. The Chairman then left the chair for half an hour.

On resuming Mr Bryce consented to hare .the bill recommitted for the consideration of any clause native members wished. The remaining clauses were then paused and the House rose at 3.30.
