Meeting of the District Court of Foresters.

The quarterly meeting of the District Court was held at Newmarket on Thursday evening the 29 th. ult. at 8 o'clock p.m. District Chief Hanger, Bro. S. C. Schofield occupied the Chair, and conducted the proceedings in a most admirable manner. The following delegates were present :—• Auckland : Bros. Byme, McEwin, and Phillips ; Newmarket: Bro. Stall worthy; Thames: Bros. Poulgrain and Primrose; Panmure: Bro. Dwyer; NewTwn; Bro. Thorne; Onehunga: Bro. Keesing. Apologies were received from Lodges.Northern Wairoa and Tiiuranga. . The minuteß of the last meeting were read and confirmed, and the correspondence of a very extensive character was laid on the table by the District Secretary Bro. J. Smith. The manner the business of the district tad been conducted by the District Secretary and Chief Rangers was highly spoken of and the business proceeded with the greatest order. The new district laws revised in accordance with the Friendly Societies Act 1877, and Amendment A«t 1878, end including a set* of by-laws for the subordinate Courts were laid on the table. The bookd presented a .neat appearance, and were highly approved of by the brethren. Tue manner in which they had been printed was spoken of as most creditable, and the care and attention given to their compilation reflected the greatest credit upon Bro. C. Ahier, of, the Thames, under whose supervision the laws had been frametf. The Stab Office, Thames did the printing, which was done in a workmanlike manner.

ing brethren were nominated for office fo the" ensuing 12 months:—District C.8., F. Christmas and James Hunter; D. Treasurer, C. Sheppard ; D. Secretary, J. Smith. The two latter gentlemen at present hold the offices they are again nominated for.
