These impress ■ions we wish to correct. We have been told that £60 has been collected; the fact is, however, we bare received but £11 12s 3d, and that we purpose handing over to some needful cause a* soon as we can somewhat recover our lorn. . We deem it right to state that Mr Bhrenfried—whose purse is generally open to help those in need—was the originHbr of the lubscriptioDs. He, unsolicited, called at my ion's store and leftbis contributions. Others, •ltd unsolicited, did the same. As there seemed an unmistakeable disposition in some to help us over our loss, Mr Denby kindly consented to become treasurer of the fund, and got some lists printed. These lists, however, realised but little, the greater amount of subscriptions coming direct to ourselves. This is all we ash At the same time we feel bound to tender our hearty thanks to the few who so generously and so spontaneously contributed to help us in our need. We abstain from publishing their names as we know they do not wish it. We must thank those also who had the will to help ut but not the ability ; these were not a few.
