Mining Review of the Week.

During the week, although good corner men have unhesitatingly pronounced tbe market to be very sick, a considerable amount. of business has been done, especially in what are known as the outside stocks. Lucks Alls, Hopefuls, Victorias and Calfs have each had their days, although there has been no abnormal excitement. For the first time since the existence of this field has such a universally favorable feeling been experienced towards those new miaing ventures, and this change for the batter can only be ascribed to ' the introduction of the principle of the promoter! contributing largely to the maiden operations of the new ventures.

Although the first excitement caused, by the news of the probable suspension of pumping operations shortly, has subsided, there is still a slight feeling of uneasiness experienced. We do noL think that there is any occasion of this m^ the men who have the principal voice in the matter are too deeply interested to permit of such a contingency. However, it appears to us a strange anomaly that one man should have a dictator's power in the matter of the pumps and if so inclined can prejudice the property: of hundreds. The sooner the pump, is in the, hands «f some specially constituted body, and its financial position made so,sound as! to preclude the chance of its stopping, the better will it be for all concerned.
