The half-yearly report of the Colonial Bank shows net profits of £16,41416s 9d; balance to profit and loss for the previous half-year, £2558 13s 9d; total, £18,973 10s 6d, which the directors propose to appropriate as follows:—To the reserve fund (which will then stand at £27,000), £1090; to dividend at 8 per cent on paid up capital, £16,0U§f balance carried forward, £1973 10s 6d. It is proposed that the dividend should be payable on the 12 th proximo. Bunedia Spring Meeting. At a meeting of the Committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club last night, it was resolved that the spring meeting should be held on Tuesday, and Wednesday, November 30th, and December the Ist, and that the annual meeting be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the 24th, 25th, and 26th of February 1881. Messrs Howse, Job, and Laggart, were appointed handiceppers. The following resolution was passed, " That the Secretary be requested to communicate with the secretaries of the leading clubs of New Zealand with the view of ascertain*

ing if they will be willing to co-operate with the clubs in the selection and appointment of a gentleman who will act as handienpper for the whole of the clubs in New Zealand.
