OLD GOLDEN CALF.
To-day has been devoted to reaching the hanging wallof the lode. There is about 5 feet of fine mineralised close grained quartz showing colors of gold in places. The manager will now be able to carry on with a square face and the value of the reef will soon be known. I was shown some of the stone obtained yesterday. One solid rock the size of a man's head was broken in two, and showed in the centre one splat of leafy gold, while fine gold could be traced running right through the quartz.
