RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

(Before H. Kenrick, Esq., R.M.) SELLING ALCOHOLIC LIQUOBB AFTEE HOITBS.
Matthew Vanghan was charged with a breach of the Licensing Act by selling liquor after the legal hour of closing on the 24>th July, 1880. .-,.?■ * Defendant pleaded guilty. The woman bad asked him and he had consented.. He had done very little out door business^ on that day. He had been 19 years at the trade and had never been convicted previously of the same offence. He had not thought the offence a serious one. His Worship did not consider -the offence a light one. He cautioned tae defendant, and inflicted a fine of 10s and costs. BREACH OF BYJ-LAW. Robert Murdoch was charged with a breach of the bye-laws by allowing his pigs to be at large at Tararu Road on'the 23rd. The defendant said he had fastened the pigs in the morning in the stye, and they must have got out. Mr J. B. Mason said in consequence of information he received he went to Tararu aad found the defendant's pigs at large. Defendant's wife said she owued the pigs. His Worship inflicted a fine of Is and costs. Court adjourned.
