This day. A small cottage in Thread-needle street was destroyed by fire on Saturday night, but the cause is unknown. The owner was absent at the time. The premises were not insured.

A Court of Enquiry as to the stranding of the Kennedy was held on Saturday at Greymouth before the Besident Magistrate and two assessors, when Captain Dillon was held free of blame, and his certificate was returned to him.
