As will be seen from pur calograms, Turkey has refusejL to comply with the conditions imposed upon her by the Berlin Treaty. We learn that she is mobilising an army for the purpose of resisting by force of arms any attempt on the part of Greece to occupy the territory given her by the great Powers for the rectification of her frontier. This can be | easily understood, as a nation which has made excellent stand against the hordes of Cossacks desperately struggling in the cause of the Mars of Europe, and has "Plevna" emblazoned on her regimental colors, would while suffering from the defeats sustained during the the memorable war of 1877, feel a great aense of humiliation if compelled to cede* territory to a minor state. It appears that the Sultan is straining every *nejrve to prevent the conditions of. the conference being carried into effect, but the governments of the Great Powers are unanimous in the deter* . mination to compel the Ottoman Empire to submit—if possible, by peaceful measures, but if necessary by force.
