In the Auckland Dis'rict Court on Saturday, before' Judge lfaedonald, in the case Golden Crown G.M.Co. v. Thames County Council, judgment was given for defendants for £92 IQt IQd,and'costs £5 ss. The general question of law involved was, whether the mortgagees of an open gold mine, worked by tributers, may claim the gold won /or rent (acting in their capacity of landlord), or whether the gold s» obtained is severable from the land, and as the property of those who win it, not liable under the lien of the mortgagee.

Thb cutter Three Brothers, which left the Great Barrier Island on July 2nd, has not since been heard of. It is greatly feared she has fdundered. The dingy she had on board was picked up at Waikauwau on the following Monday, but since then nothing further has been Ascertained. Captain Thomas Biair, the owner, was on board, and also two foreigners.
