OUR MINES.
MOANATAIRI.
Some nice golden stones are being obtained from the footwall section of No. 3 reef at the 80 feet level, and the crush* ing dirt broken is high grade. This is to the eastward of No; 2 slide, and both driving and stoping operations are carried on. In the tunnel level the Nonpareil cross-cut is making fair progress through tight country. The mine manager's report for the week is as follows:— " Point Russell Section; In the creek level the reef has not been broken down thin week, but the last quartz taken from here proved payable. The 100 feet level has been extended 36 feet during past fortnight—the reef formation being only a clay wall. As water is now coming out of the north side, a small prospecting drive has been started in this direction to , ascertain whether we are on the right lode. Tunnel Level: Everything being now in order, we started to-day rising on Golden Age reef. Nonpareil cross-cut ha§ been extended 25 feet this week through tight eounfcry. From present appearance I think we have gone through the main slide, and are now driving under it. If such is the case, the slide, must have taken a sharp bend, and when we are into our own ground the cross-cut will be turned so as to drive along seaward side of slide. 80 feet level: Driving and stoping is continued on the new foot-wall branch from So. 3 reef east of No. 2 slide and good blotches of gold are seen. The general crushing stuff during the fortnight has been of lower, grade owing to most of the stopes being worked through the runs of gold. 325 tons, in* eluding three cwt. picked stone, have been crushed for the yield of 313 ounces of gold.— Robebt Combs."
