ALBURNIA.
The following' is the* mine manager s weekly report:—" Sons 'of Freedom tunnel-; The contractor* hare completed their contract of 100 ft of (hiring. The reef in face is now about 4ft through, 18 iueh**^! which i* very promising looking, and fall of good minerals. ' I now s await Orders as to whether I will continue the drj?e, as lam very anxious it should be pushed, > forward as speedily'as possible. 160 ft level, east: The contractors here hare also completed their contract,' and hare started a fresh one to drive to, the , boundary sat' 23s per' foot. During the ' last fortnight the reef has been about 4ft wi4«#'=lt :is no# much 5 smaller, hitving formed a splice, but 1 do not think the 'worse 1 rf- it on that account, as it is of frequent occurrence in this part of the mine. 1 -'West: Stopirig is still being carried on near the Whau boundary with •imiliar results to, those last reported. Dixon's cross-cut has been . cleaned out and thoroughly repaired. The face I now find to be rery tight ground, but this is , only,/ to , be, , expected, as there is,a tight belt of country between this and Dixon's reef. I purpose letting Hub cross-cut stand for a short time, as I have started to sink a winze from the lerel to prospect the ground, and .when I ascertain the best point I will again resume driving. This winze is now down 20 feet, and though the reef is small it has always shown good strong colors of gold. As there is a total depth of IQO feet 5 to sink to reach the, cross cut I am confident of having a good payable block of ground to work out here when communication is made with the cross cut< Intermediate level, east and west: Stoping is still being carried on with satisfactory results, and althopgh this block is now becoming small, , yet, I hope that in atarUng a fresh stope from 160 feet level and in commencing to stopb on Dixon's reef still,,to.have satisfactory results to report * Battery: The general dirt is shaping well for a fair average return. Battery and all its appliances working <i satisfactorily .—Thomas Eadfobd.—July ,-13,1880." V
