Jane Eliza Leatwick, a widow, aged 56 years, committed suicide by caking rat poison. Straitened circumstances believed to be the cause.
The Kaiapoi Woollen Factory Company held their half-yearly meeting to-day. The report showed a balance of £2641 on. half year. It was resolved to extend the. capital to £1,000,000, in £25 shares, as the present machinery in quite incapable of supplying the .demand for goods. -
