AUCKLAND.
This day.
Tho Suoreme Cou-t Sittings commenced this morning, before Jddge Richmond. 26 rames were on the calendar against whom there are 33 charges. The majority of cases are of the ordinary description, but one or two are notable; the one of embracery egainst Samuel Coombes being the most unusual. There are seven cases of forging and uttering, and two more of an analogous character. The Judge in his cke.rge deplored, the readiness of tmblicans to supply blank cheque?, it being only necessary for a man to get nobblers to get a blank form. With legard to the embracery case, he said the law looked with extreme jealousy on any attempt to influence a jury.
A lad named Burton had his ankle fractured by the turntable on the wharf yesterday afternoon.
