Mr Eos*, with his usual generosity, treated the children to a substantial repast, to which ample justice was done by the juveniles. After the younger children had wended their way homeward, the tables were cleared, when the sweet strains of music given by Mr Christensen, accompanied by Mr Moyle, brought the light hearted dancers to their feet. -During the interval, Miss Mary Boss presented an address and the ring, after which dancing was resumed and kept up with spirit until the small hours, when kind farewells were exchanged, all joining in wishing the teacher prosperity in her future scenes of labor. The following is a copy of the address:— "Eureka Hill, 1 July/80.—Mrs MoManus, Head. Teacher, Kureka School.—Dear Madame—On behalf of the inhabitants of this district I am deputed to present to you this ring, as a slight testimony of the regard we feel for you, and assure you that though you are leaving the district, you wilt be remembered with feelings of respect and gratitude for the efficient manner in which you nave conducted the school daring the last six years.—Signed on behalf of the pupils and inhabitants of the Eureka, Mart Boss, E.Ross, John GHBIBTIE." ■
, Mrs McManus in feeling terms replied to the address, assuring the donors of the gift that it would be treasured by her. It was as welcome as unexpected, and would serve to remind her of the parents and children who, despite the superior attractions of other schools, had remained faithful to her and the old building,
