The House resumed at 7.30.
The Hou3e resumed in Committee on the Licensing Bill. The clauses relating to licenses in native districts were altered so as to make the assent of the Native Assessor necessary to the issue o£|pnf license as under the present law. *The clauses relating to bottle licenses were postponed.

THE LICENSING BILL. In the Licensing Bill a clause permitting the Minister of Public Works to issue licenses to railway refreshment rooms was struck out. Clause 27 was amended so as to relieve brewers and wholesale licensees from the necessity of registering under the Distillation Act. Clause 28 was postponed. Mr Stevens proposed on clause 29 to make provision for licenses to retail.in New Zealand wine only. Mr Dick thought this impracticable. The discussion was unfinished when progress was reported at 12.30.

Wellington, This day. In the House last night, Mr Speight stated (slated ?) Ehrenfried. Bottle license to confectioners for wine and ale is likely to be carried. . Great indication is felt at Mr She< ban's absence. . .
