The Lynch Family of Bellringers.
/ Last evening -the. abore celebrated instrumentalists and vocalists gave their initial performfftce at the Academy of Music. There -was a fair house, the pit being f^ll; andj'the^her parts of the house were fairly seated. The performance commenced^ by^n overture, on the piana by Mr, James 'VNrite, performed with good style and •iteration. The bellringers then came on; the stage and gate • ' selection, the .D?oid'«^j March, from "Norma," aid .the "White Cockade." The handbells* j*hen manipulated- by such clever musicians as Messrs Lynch/ jjtfoduce pretty;harmonies,, but we must , -ester "our ftofest >agaiMt taking a march like the one fnbm £ Norma " ara selection, as the music <>f Yincenzo Bellini is rather too good to be interpreted by a troupe of bellrmgers, no' fitter how-good they may be. The chbNi^ .when struck on the Sells, vibrate' to Much an< extent as to make positive*, discords <<#ith the following #otes,.and in'sT piece like the march from "Norjrna," instead of showing h»j ideas bf the composer, give tbeja qnly in part, and the air is barely distinct above the jribrat&qg bells of different toie. 'The performance, consideling this qisadvanUJgei .was^an excellent one, pfcd the bellringen earned well-merited applauseMrpm^the audience, Mr Alfred Santley next"«ang ""locked in the cradle. oh the deep^ in very good style, and he pbtained favour with his audience. Thrf seVction 'on the i belli "Father dea'r^/ather conic horned with me now " w*v well executed, the pianissimo movement affording a delicious fcelisti to the firftefclAfiging of the bells. Mr San tier next jsang " The sea is England's glor jr andjjained more favour fro# his auditory. The comic duet |V The Halle-. - lu/ah Band '[; was( most amusing, and was loudly encored, the performers, Messrs * iH. and WvLynch gave a parody on^ " Father- Come Home." The venfrilo* <juial powers of Mr 0. Lyndhurst cannot . be for a - moment denied, and \ his exhibition of skill- last night called forth the appreciative demonstrations of the audience. The Chinese song, and dance concluded the first part ol thq programme. ' The second part of the programme was wellcarried^out., " Home, Sweet Home," a handbell duet by Messrs H. and B. Lynch wa| by farijie gem of the evening., The entertainment Concluded with.a most - amusing farce.
