Cobomandel, Monday.
The manager of the Union Beach is very •sanguine of striking gold during the present week. . . ■ The Tokatea and Bismarck Companies have accepted the tender of Mr Waulass to drive 600 feet on No. 7 level. The contract is expected to be completed at the end of the year. - , Habbottb View G.M.C.—The followis the directors' report:—" The principal work done in the mine during the.past year was by the tribute parties, Nash and Co , Mills and Co., and Mellsop and Co. The directors put on a couple of men in the early part of the year to prospect No. 4 letel and the stopes in No. 5 level, but not finding payable ground, the work was discontinued. The /directors would recommend a low level tunnel being put in to cut Nash's leader, from which payable gold was got in the upper workings. The balance sheet showed receipts for Walhs's tribute, £19112s 6d; from Mills'tribute, £1114s; calls, £47 3s; survey fees, £1 Is. The expenditure left a Dalance of £21 3s 6d in the bank."
