A general grocery store in the main road belonging to James Martin Shepherd was totally destroyed by fire at 3 o'clock this morning. The building was of wood and containing a heavy and valuable stock of merchandise. The insurances are £900 on the stock in the Union, £200 of which is reinsured in the N.Z., £300 on the building in the London and Lancashire. Shepherd estimates his loss in stock at between £400 and £500 over the insurance.
