LUCK'S ALL.

The property of the newly formed Luck's All Company, is a piece containing about 15 men's ground, situated on the right hand spar of the Waiotahi creek about half a mile below PungaFlat. For two years prior to last Christmas, the claim was worked with highly satisfactory results by the shareholders but finding that the resources of the mine could be developed at much •greater advantage by means of a low level it was decided to put one in. This work was started about the' end of last year, and close on 200 feet hare been driven. The course of it being aorosi country, a multitude of small leaders and lodes have been intersected. Most of these are gold bearing, though nothing has been done in the way of opening on them, the proprietors baing desirous of cutting the Luck's All leader. It is estimated some 50 or 60 ieet will require to be driven before it is reached. Though by far the greater number of the lodes cut are of small size, one or two reefs of ; greater dimensions have been intersected* i One of these is the Republic reef, a very promising body of stone, and another which is unnamed is of a black, shaley formation. A short distance from the mouth of this drive is the Waterfall shaft which at a depth of 50 feet struck golden quartz, when the great influx of water rendered operations then impossible. This Waterfall lode could be worked by the, expenditure of a little money, and indeed it is not improbable that* its operation will be included in the scheme !of working. To work it it will be necessary to carry a drive from a point lower than the bottom of the shaft. The | course should be so shaped that it will cut the lodes met with in the upper level before turning to the shaft It is in the intermediate level that the most work has been done, the most extensive operations having been carried on in the Luck's All and "brown" leaders. On the former lode in this level there is still a block 40 feet in height and 60 feet or more in length to work out. On the latter lode a winze was sunk some 10 or 15 feet, and and good gold is left in the bottom. It is now full of water, but will shortly be drained from below. The. principal source of the quartz supply is the net work of stringers which is sent to the mill mullock and all. The upper level is ! pretty well worked out, and being out of repair-1 did not inspect it. On the whole I was veiy well pleased with the prospects. The promoters seem to have the greatest confidence in the ground, having even applied for shares in addition to these reserved for themselves.
