(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
Sib,—On reading the decision of the LiceD3fd Victuallers, 1 wonder-- \ whether men had !■•■ zoning nowers. They pre sending delegates to V\ ellogton to try and re 'ure the t; x *nd 'raising it themselves, but taking cpre to keep clear of it by putting it all on the consumer*. Not satisfied with thvt, the Licensed Victuallers must raise an extra tax on the'r o»*ii account, wi<'iout any law*for it, of an extra Id age 1 on over and above the 6d a ga"on cba^g i by Goverument. One would suDpose in fan ness they would be satisfied if the brewer, publican and eon* sutlers paid their propo. Lion. Sir, there are three-courses open for consumers to adopt, which are either to brew their own b >r, buy it d;r<. ct from *>c brewer, or go without in the fam'iy, and I submit that the Licensed Victua lers by tbeir aciion are fix' ig one of these co<- ses t > be adopt.d.—l m, &c, A. wit Imposition.
