KURANUI HILL.
I visited the workings of this mine at the 360- feet level this afternon. Several shots had just been fired, and a good opportunity was thus ffforded of inspecting the country. The body of quartz which is called the big lode—though why I don't know, as it is oily 18in. thick— has been stripped for a distance of 20 feet. A veiy small portion has bsen taken from the hanging wall side of the lode and good gold was ssen. None has bren broken from here fcr some days, the drive being so choked with muliocb, nor wili any more stone be broken till winding is resumed a:id everyt-hiag cleared up. A liLii.e qu-viz Wi 3 broken from the specimea leader to-day, sever; I of the stones broken showing gold disseminated throughout.
