The result of the official inquiry into the alleged Volunteer outrage at Ashburton shows that the affair was aggra< vated. One Volunteer has been suspended.
This day.
A local brewer calculates that if the proposed Beer Tax becomes law, six Dunedin brewers will amongst them contribute no less a sum than £32,000 annually to the revenue. At a meeting of brewers held last night, Messrs Hames, Marshall, and Maurice Joel were appointed dele* gates to go to Wellington to act with other Associations for the repeal of the Beer Tax.
