London, May 22. It has been officially stated that the cost of the Afghan compaign up to the present time is £7,154,000.
May 21. The British Admiralty have offered a large reward for information that will lead to the discovery of the missing training ship Atlanta. Jan* 2. - Sir D. Wedderburn has called attention in the House of Commons to the financial affairs of some of the Crown colonies, which, he declares have been badly administered, and that reforms are urgently needed. He has given notice that he will move a reduction in the annual grants from the Imperial Government, contending that the depen^ dencies of the Crown named should be self-supporting. May 25. It is believed that Her Majesty Queen Victoria will visit Ireland in the autumn. Much satisfaction is expressed by the Irish papers of all ■hades of
opinion, Her Gracious Majesty's last visit was in Company with her Consort Prinoo Albert in August, 1861.
May 24. The ninth anniversary of the conflict between the Communists and tho Versaillests army has been celebrated in Paris. The Communist leaders wlio perished on that occasion have I een eulogised, and tbe principles of the Commune vehemently advocated by red Republican orators.
It is rumoured that in consequence of the spread of the ttumpa rebellion, the troops of the Nizam of Hydrabad at Vizianagram have been ordered to hold themselves in readiness for an immediate advance in the Rumpa district.
