KTTB4NUI HILL,
There was some excitement in the stock of this mine to-day. The cause was that some gold was seen in a small stringer at the No. 3 level. The lode had " heaved " and on the men breaking into the footwall this leader -was disclosed. <■
—The manager reports to his directors as follows :—" I have the honour to submit the following report of this we^W progress :—36oft Level.—-We were able to keep in the face all through, AOtwithstantiing that until Thwrsdry we had no stuff hauled. The <?i»ve is now cleanrd up, and we shaM be able to make better speed. The reaf has improved ia size and ;i the class of stone, and giresa light prospect of gold in, the . tests. No goid has been discovered in break* ing, but th<* appearance of the rook is certainly most encouraging. The cross-cut being driven by the Caledonian Company is in twenty-eight feJ£ and is therefore within ten feet of being clear-of our ground. .They hare gorie through some small ■lungers during the week in a good class of country.—Oddfellows : Seven men continue sipping 'as previously reported". Gold is ♦'••equently seen in breaking,, but shoe my- last report we have found no specimens.—Long Drive : Today, we holed into old workings made by the old Junction Company. . r T.he leaders continue poor, smell, and mnllocky.—Battery: The repairs, cleaning pnd rUerations f > boilers and berdans are complete, and we wiU resume crushing'on the 14th inst.—Tributes: Pearce and party have 401bs of specimens on hand:, none others have found any of any, consequence. ■• - ■ ■ "•■■'■'"■'.
