THE LICENSING QUESTION.
To the Editor of tbe Ersitiira Smb. Sib,—l see there is a meeting of Councillors oalled for this erening to consider the late action of the Licensing Commitsioners. Now, sir, the question asked by many people is this, does the Mayor call this meeting for his Own purposes or gains or for the good of the Borough? Humour says, his own pocket; but, sir, 1 do you think if these houses belonged to other, persons would our cunning old fox ' hare called a meeting at all ? I think not. - I would ask our Couneilmen to beware, or they will be caught in a trap. I think we hare some good and sensible men there who will uphold the good tense of our worthy Magistrate and not listen to the fanoodling of the wealthy brewer.—l am, &0., . E.M.
