District Belt Competition.
The quarterly firing for the District Belt took place to-day. Twenty-four competed. The following were the highest scores iv the firing by the morning squad:— Keller, HE 72 Cameron, TNB 71 JamiesoD, TN B 70 Johns, TNB 69 Stone, HE 69 Clarke, HE 69 Parslow, TNB 68 Weir, TSV 68 Walker, TNB 67 A. Thomas, TNB 67 Harris, TNB ... 67 Lieut. Q-ordon, I'NB ... ",., 67 Hori Matene, TNB 66 The entries were made up as follows:—21 Navals, 7 Engineers, 5 Scottish, 1 Banger, and 1 Maori. Eight competitors have yet to fire in the after* noon squad. The scores made this morning are ?ery good, and the competition keen. Latee. The principal scores for the afternoon squad are — Price, No/1 TSV 72 MoLeod, No. 1 TSV 70 Heron, No. 1 TSV 70 . Stackpole, HEY .68 J. Thomas, NB.. 67 The fire winners are—Kellar, Price, Cameron, McLeod, and Jamieson. For the first time for a long time the belt has been wrested from the victorious Narals, and the Engineers now lead the ran. It will be noticed that Stackpole, a promising young shot of this company, is well up.
