In consequence of the sudden rise in the price of the shares; I proceeded to this mine this afternoon, but found that Mr Dunlop was in Auckland, having left instructions that no one should be admitted, and I could not get inside. I was informed that admission had even been declined to one of the directors. It appears that the cause of the exoitement is some gold in the foot wall stringer of the big reef at intermediate level, but as this is old news there is a probability that some person connected with the mine has taken advantage of the absence of the manager to give the shares a start.
