The monthly inspection of the Thames Naval Brigade took place last evening. There was an excellent muster. The corps numbered with band, officers and petty officers, about 120. Major Murrey accompanied by Captains Watson, Comer, Quarter»Master Symington, and Lieut. Instructor Grant, entered the hall punctually at 8 p.m., the Major"receiving and acknowledging pro forma the^salute. He at once proceeded with his inspection which was a most searching one. Major Murray presented Potty Officer Potts with a double barrelled fowling piece, the present of the Scottish and Naval shooting men. The following inscription was engraved on a silver plate let into the stock: " Presented to Paymaster W. H. Petty Officer Walker received the Darling Vase and Mrs Quint's prize ; Champion Thomas, a massive gold rinp, Seaman Luckie 20s, Seaman Harris 10s, Seaman Cartwright 255, Seaman Goldsworthy 15s, Seaman Paull 20s, Seaman James 15s, Seamtyßerryman 10s, Seamen Coutta ss, Seaman Cameron 10s. Major Murray said he had been deputed by Major Withers to inspect them on that occasion. Major Withers would be on the Thames next month, when he trusted to see as many on parade as there were that night. We understand that Captain Wildman has given a prize of £10 to be fired for. Mr C. F. Quint has given £5.
