In the Appeal Court this morning in the case of the Queen v. Hale, an appeal from the Supreme Court at Wellington against the conviction of the defendant was squashed.
In the case of Hemaraona, an appeal from Auckland, the convictioa was upheld.
The ketch Forest Queen, which was recently beached at Guard's Bay, has been launched and has arrived here this morning. Very little damage was done.
The injuries received by the man White, on Saturday, proved fatal. An inquest is being held.
The schooner Colleen Bawn, which left here for Havelock on the Ist inst., is missing, and is supposed to be lost.
At the inquest on the man, White, a verdict of " Accidental. death " was returned.
