AUSTRALIAN.
Sydney, This day,
An alarmist report with reference to the Genie is denied by the representative here of the Marquis De Kays. He complains that the vessel merely conveys a colonising party to New Zealand, and her cargo consists of machinery, and tools. The alarm is probably due to the fact that, there is a corps of 221 gensdarmes' aboard.
A meeting was held last night to arrange for a collection of subscription to defray Trickett's expenses to England. A sum of £400 was subscribed in the room.
Brisbane, This day. Tbe exports of Queensland for the last year show an increase of nearly £280,000 as compared with 1878, but the imports show a decrease of nearly £3,000,000.
