Fatal Accident,
Last night a dray was discovered in the Waimea river a little above the Appleby bridge, and it was afterwards found that a horse was attached. The harness showed that the animal had almost freed itself before being drowned. Further inquiries showed that the horse and dray were being driven yesterday morning by a man named Kruse, a settler of longstanding, and it is conjectured that in attempting to ford the river the dray was washed down and he was taken away by the fresh. His body has not been discovered. .
