The A uckland members intend to make a combined attack on the Government early in the session regarding the stoppage of the railwa,, reclamation. A notice of motion is to be tabled on Tuesday next.
The Waimate County Council have beea notified by Whitaker that £4,000 be appropriated out of the £65,000 voted for North Auckland, on the chairman undertaking that the money should be expended only on works contemplated by rote.
It is reported that the discovery of coal at Mahurangi proves to be very valuable and[>a very deep deposit.

The City Council last evening decided to send to England for twelve sets of electric fire alarms with telephones.

William H. Bartlett has been arrested for larceny of the mail bag on the s.s. Botomahana, and remanded till Monday.
