The shooting season invariably brings with it numerous accidents—some fatal and some very serious. Scarcely a day has passed but we have had a telegram announcing the untimely death, or severe disablement of some youthful sportsman. This sad fact may be in a great measure attributed to the carelessness of parents in permitting their children to use firearms. Many of the youths who carry rifles and other fire-arms do not know the nature of the weapons they have. They have no conception of the danger they are risking, and forget that the slightest slip may cause instant death. With so many accidents occurring around «s, it is not at all a*matter of surprise that anxiety should be felt by parents who reluctantly give permission to their v sons ta shoot, and run the risk of. accidentally blowing their own brainc out.
